Vaastu - BEDROOM Basics

In the past, the toilets were located on the external side of the house. Nowadays, the toilets are not only located within the house but, in many designs, they are attached to the bedroom. However, after decades of use, it appears that the toilet is not as harmful as we think. Here are a few Feng Shui bedroom design rules that could make your life easier...

• Make sure that the door of your toilet does not open in front
of your bed. Ideally, it should be located at the side of the bed. If the room is large enough, place a screen to block the view of the toilet door from the bed.

• Don’t forget to shut the toilet door. It should be closed all the time. Try installing an automatic door closer!


• Make sure your bed does not share a common wall with the toilet or the bathroom.Water from the bath can seep through the walls and the excess moisture can greatly affect your health.

• Place the bed in such a manner that the bed head is placed against a solid wall for support. Avoid
placing it against a window, as you might start feeling low on confidence. It may even affect your health.

• Don’t place overhead beams cutting across your bed as they could be hazardous to your health. Also ensure that lighting fixtures and air-conditioners are not installed over your head or any part of the bed.

• The ceiling should also be levelled. Sloping ceilings can create emotion-related problems.

VAASTU -- Door Cure


A main door towards the southeast, southwest or northwest is not considered auspicious. It is always good to locate it in the north or northeast.

HOT Tip: Make the main door slightly larger than other doors in the house. Its length:breadth ratio should be 2:1. If the height or width of the door are not in this ratio, due to shortage of space, problems related to opportunities and wealth may crop up.

DOs & DON’Ts
• Do decorate the door with auspicious symbols like kalash, Maa Lakshmi’s charan pointing towards the house or swastika with ‘Riddhi
Siddhi’ and ‘Shubh Laabh’ written on either sides of the symbol. It is believed that positive energies only enter the house that has beautiful doors. Remember to keep the door clean at all times.

• Make sure that you lubricate the hinges of the doors, windows and cupboards at regular intervals. Do not allow a door to make creaking sounds; these can kill all positive energies!!!
